Jamila received her medical degree from the Medical University Vienna, Austria, with a thesis on organ protection in the brain-dead organ donor under the guidance of Prof. Andreas Zuckermann. During her studies, she was able to be part of different exchange programs which took her to Sydney (Australia) and Bordeaux (France). Jamila took an additional elective in Houston (USA) at the Texas Heart Institute, where she was lucky to assist Dr. Joseph S. Coselli.
After finishing her medical studies, Jamila started her surgical training at the Department of Cardiac Surgery at the University Hospital Heidelberg. Here, she passed her board examination in August 2020.
From 2018 until 2020, Jamila was a member of the ISHLT Junior Faculty and Trainees Council and Heart Failure and Transplantation Council. As a member of my local transplant/MCS team, she has a keen interest in heart failure surgery and heart transplantation.
Being a young female cardiac surgeon, her ambition is to become a heart failure surgeon. Under the direction of Prof. Dr. Gregor Warnecke and PD Dr. Anna Meyer, Jamila is interested in the field of mechanical circulatory support, temporary or long-term, as well as in the specialty of heart transplantation.Back to speakers
