Dr Lilian Mbau, MBChB, MPH, MSc, FACC, is a preventive cardiology specialist, public health physician, and global cardiovascular health leader from Kenya. She is an internationally recognised leader in cardiovascular disease prevention, cardiac rehabilitation, and implementation science in low- and middle-income countries. Dr Mbau has played a pivotal role in developing cardiovascular policies, clinical guidelines, and capacity-building programmes across Africa, including leading a multi-country initiative to strengthen secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease. A former Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Cardiac Society, she has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications. She holds advisory roles on several international organizations, including the World Heart Federation and the World Health Organization. Her current work focuses on advancing equitable access to cardiac rehabilitation and improving cardiovascular outcomes for underserved populations, including women.
