As announced to our membership and community in March this year the CSANZ 2020 ASM and ANZET meetings have been postponed to December 10-13, 2020. Despite good progress with the control of COVID-19 in Australia and New Zealand, it has becoming increasingly clear that it is unlikely that we will be able to host a meeting of the usual size in 2020. There has been enormous interest from our members in holding a meeting in 2020, with some 800 scientific abstracts submitted.
In order to guarantee a CSANZ Scientific meeting takes place in 2020, and to enable maximum engagement with our members, we will deliver the main content of ASM 2020 as a “Virtual Meeting.” There will also be a ‘plus’ option that will enable limited numbers of delegates to attend the Gold Coast Convention Centre venue and possibly other secondary or “satellite” venues. We are working with the convention centre to ensure that an in-person offering would comply to government regulations and be COVID-19 safe. The size of such gatherings will be determined by government policy.
The key points: -
1) The main content of the 2020 CSANZ ASM will be delivered by a virtual platform. The virtual platform will host 4 streams of simultaneous live content and additional pre-recorded content will be available on demand. Meeting registrants will have continued access to all materials through the virtual platform for up to a year after the meeting
2) We will release a limited number of registrations for in-person attendance at the Gold Coast. If we are able to hold a larger meeting and there is sufficient interest, we will release further in-person registration tickets closer to the date. At the current time we are planning for one primary in-person location at the Gold Coast, however we may consider hosting smaller additional “satellite“ venues in other states and New Zealand depending on demand and travel restrictions.
3) The young investigator competitions will run unopposed during the ASM, there will also be additional prize sessions. Participants selected to be finalists will be encouraged to attend in person at the Gold Coast venue.
4) An additional virtual abstract competition will open up in the month prior to the meeting
The Scientific Program Team and Stream leads have put together a fantastic program for a very special 2020 CSANZ ASM. We look forward to your registering which will be available from mid-July. We will provide further updates as the year progresses but feel free to reach out and ask us questions on via email to firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 1800 193 405 (within Australia) or +64 9 3601240
