Chris Hammett

Dr Hammett is an Interventional Cardiologist at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH). He has a major interest in cardiovascular research, which began with a two year research fellowship / doctorate thesis at Green Lane Hospital in Auckland. He was appointed to his current position in 2006, and since then he has been the principal investigator in many landmark trials on novel antiplatelet and antithrombotic agents for both ACS and AF. He was the worldwide top recruiter for the ATLAS and ATLAS-2 studies (investigating the use of rivaroxaban post-ACS), and has an ongoing interest in the role of antithrombotic therapy for both improving outcomes in ACS, and stroke prevention for atrial fibrillation.
